Weird battery problem

When i run my laptop on battery life it'll show a steady drain till about 80% (this lasts maybe 20 minutes) then all of the sudden it'll show critical power and it'll be at 4%. So in total my laptop maybe has 25 minutes of battery life. what can be the problem?

The only explanation i can think of is that the battery is too old. I've had this laptop for over a year and its been plugged into the wall for most of the time because i dont take it around that often. can it be that the battery is overcharged or something? what i dont get is that theres a steady drain in teh first 20 %

oh btw i have a Toshiba Satellite 1105, i have no idea what kind of battery it is.
 
The battery is most likely bad. You can try cycling the battery by charging it to 100% and then draining it a few times. Also when it gets to the "4%" try taking it out and putting it back in and see what charge remaining it shows. It is a Ni-MH battery, so they are relatively cheap to replace, ~$99.00.
