weird audio interference, also related to mouse movement

I've got a MSI K8N Neo2, with a realTek AC97 audio thingy built into the board. I installed the drive that came with the board, and I have window xp with sp1 but not 2. I don't think I was getting this problem earlier today, all I've done since then was clean up the power supply wiring. The mouse, which somehow influences this bleedover of slight staticy noise is connected via usb. I've tried different usb slots and the noise doesn't go away.

Moving the mouse around creates more of this static, lowering the volume or even muting the sound doesn't make the static go away. Any idea what might be the problem?
