This one is kinda weird.
First, I am still new to the XP os. I have been with NT and 2k for years. The settings are kinda "hidden" to me in XP.
I also don't like the "prettyness" of XP.
I just setup a wireless system for a friend of mine that is getting DSL in the next couple days. He bought a new new desktop for the wife and still uses his laptop for his work.
They want to set up the desktop as a "printer server" more or less. They use two different printers depending on what they are printing out. So, I thought I would setup the system to use the desktop computer as a printer server to make things a little easier then switching cables all the time on the laptop.
But I ran into a little snag. First, the wireless system seems to work. Both computers are pingable to each other. Both the XP and 2k machine can see both machines. XP being the desktop, the laptop is running 2k.
From the XP machine, I can access the laptop machine just fine. But the 2k machine can see both machines, but when I go to access the XP machine from the 2k machine, it asks for login and pass. I know this is normal. But when I try to enter the info, it will not allow me to login. Either as administrator or the one user it uses at the login screen.
I tried to enter a new user to see if that would make a difference, but it would still deny me access. Is there a setting that would allow me to access the XP machine from the 2k machine? Like 2k has user admin. I can't seem to find a user admin in XP.
I hope all this makes sense. Anyone have any ideas of if there is any other questions, please feel free to ask.
