Weird 3dmark scores with Win2kpro

i just benchmarked my computer with 3dmark2001... I have a duel boot with partition magic (on different HD's) of win98se/win2kPRO. i did a benchmark of both these OS's and it appears that win98SE is faster by a WHOLE lot. I have the exact same video drivers (det's 12.90's), via 4n1's (32 ver.), and all the windows updates on both OS's. now i ran the test on default settings for Win2kPro and i was only getting 1409, but then i did the same test at default settings on win98SE and i got 3414... i tired this test a number of times so its not just a fluke. Am i doing something wrong here? I read somewhere that Win98SE is about 5% faster than win2kPro but its a 2000 point difference we are talking here! Anyways i have checked device manager and i made sure all the drivers were installed and they are working well.. Has anyone else tried this and got similiar results with win2kpro lagging behind??? Thx in advance

i *think* i remember my win2k scores jumping up when i installed dx8, did you try that? the only other thing i thought of is to make sure you have the 4in1's installed in win2k also (you have to do it for each OS), but you said you did that already...
