Weight of a cinder block?

Does anyone know what a cinder block weighs? I searched Google, and didn't come up with anything.

Ya, that's my guess too... but one of the guys at work needs more than a guess. He's trying to use cinder blocks to achieve a certain weight.

You have full size and half size cinder blocks. Which one? The half size is about 3-4 inches thick.

I second the ~30-40 lb guess. A few years ago the physics faculty 'encouraged' us indentured servants...er, I mean grad students...to help rearrange the cinder blocks shielding part of a small accelerator. It was one of the few times I actually wished I'd been teaching a class. Moving blocks for an hour with no gloves sucked.

Do you mean a straight faced 8" lightweight block? If so, 33lbs.

There are also 4", 6", 10", and 12" block which come in lightweight, mediums, and concretes. In addition, there are straight faced, scored, split faced, and stone faced of each variety. The 4" in the lightweight, straight faced variety weigh about 18lbs. The big boys, 12" concrete stone faced come in at around 85lbs each!:Q

The block measure 16" in length, 8" in height, and the sizes mentioned above are the width each come in. You can also purchase halves and three quarter lengths in each of the block sizes.
