you lose just eat less (you should never feel full at all), do cardio, and probably lift some weights.

and of all the cardio, i think the threadmill is the most effective, so get used to that.

I've gleened off of this thread that you are vegetarian, but you can have eggs. Is fish ok? Restrict your caloric intake, record what you eat and how much in a small notebook. You'll learn real fast what the caloric values for food are. It will also give you something to reflect on and make adjustments.

You should be doing some aerobic exercise to help burn the calories, but that's not the only reason. You do not want to lose heart muscle.

I've done stuff like this:

morning
1 slice toast
1 poached egg or slice of Canadian Bacon
mustard
coffee
150kcal

lunch
lettuce
tomato
1 can tuna
lemon juice
250kcal

dinner
broiled fish
toast
vegetables
??kcal

I do the high protein because carbs put weight on me. If you can do fish, clams, oysters, shrimp and crab are all high in protein but low in calories. Good luck.

I dont eat fish or any other seafood,etc... Btw, doesnt egg have high cholestrol?

I recalculated the amt of calories I have per day and it is 1000 calories! Probably need to bump it up.. doh!

Btw, another question about heart rate while doing the elliptical... It says the recommend 80% intensity heart rate is 165 for my age. If I average 175 after warming up, is that alright?

Yes eggs do have a lot of cholestrol, about 1 yok has daily intake. What I do is use 1 whole egg, with about 3 egg white only. Tastes just ass good to me and MUCH healthier. The protein within eggs is top notch, so you do want to consume them.

I doubt you actually consume that few of calories. Most people overlook the small little snacks they have or underestimate portion size, but if you are taking in only 1000 calories, you need to up it!

Yes, over shotting you target heart rate is fine, if you feel ok and can keep the pace for an extended period of time.

You really should look into incorporating a weight lifting program into your shecdule. If you are interested, let me know and I can help you get something set up.

I dont think that article ever differentiated between LDL and HDL!?

LOL I love to see people spitting out info to look like they know something, no that wasn't the point of the article at all.

I love to see insecure people belittle others because it makes them feel better about themselves. I didnt even read the article, just skimmed it, and made a very simple remark that it didnt mention LDL HDL, which most topics on cholestrol cover, at least in part. I never said it was, or had to be the point of the article.

I know plenty about nutrition and health, but I am always eager to learn more and discuss it with others.

Im not as close minded and judgemental as others. Hope you feel better about yourself now.

Whoa, that's so wrong. First of all, cardio should be AFTER weights. Weights are anaerobic activity and use up the glycogen stored in your body. Then, once you do cardio after that, your body turns to burning fat, which is exatly what you want. Also, as to what exactly to do with weights, read this:

3x5 means you do 5 times with a weight so heavy you couldn't lift it a 6th time to save your life, then rest for a few seconds and repeat. After that, do cardio. Yes, the elliptical machine is good, it is not as hard on knees as running.

hey there!

Its been a month now and I have lost 10 pounds. Losing 600 calories every day on the elliptical definately helps burn the fat!

Thanks a lot for your help guys.. appreciate it..
