I weighed in at Gold's gym today. been controlling my diet, and been doing some serious exercise the past few months.

Since August, and weighing 370 lbs at the time, I hve now lost 51 lbs. I am now down to 319. I am not following any fad diet. I am just controlling my diet, rearranging my eating habits (as in 6 small meals a day), and actually doing some weight training and cardiovascular exercise.

What got me started on this? My son, and that during my last physical in July, my Dr. told me I was on the verge of developing diabetes. and my 20 year class reunion is coming up

Some of the easiest things I have cut out of my diet:

Wendy's value meals,
Cokes (and other sodas)
all other fast foods.
Most Deserts

Hardest things to cut out:
Pasta, (I love spaghetti)
Pizza
Red Meat (I love steaks and smoked BBQ)
Ice Cream (love that chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream)

So for all you folks who are struggling with a weight problem, it can be done. I have 95 more lbs to go. and I am going to keep going so I am not totally embarrassed at my reunion

Congrats! I'm about 40+ what I wanna be, hence my earlier article on getting some home exercise equipment... although it looks like the good stuff is wicked expensive :) The summer is coming, my pool is calling... gotta look good in trunks ;)

Congrats. I'm also on a diet and excercise program... just started 2 weeks ago, and so far so good. Wife asked me to join her in the ediets.com program which I wasn't too thrilled about but was willing to give it a shot so she'd be able to stick with it. More happy that I'm back to my biking again. So far ~5lbs and 2% body fat down. I don't really have a goal though, other than to stick to the lifestyle change as long as possible. It's tough, I miss:

Candy (M&M's) - I still eat 'em now and then just in vastly reduced amounts.
Soda (Root Beer)
Portions of food I used to think were normal, so I'm hungry a lot (but it seems to be a little better)
Fast Food choices
Pizza

I don't like about dieting:
Too much salad, not enough (but some) bread.

Things I like so far:
New foods to try
Not really banning anything, just working within the caloric goals of 12-1300/day = ~3-400/meal.
It's working thus far.

GT,

I am not sure if you saw my thread a while back, but I am now allergic to alcohol, so that has not been and issue at all.
