I have a 64Gb crucial M4 ssd in my new computer for a boot device and to mess around in windows. I am running 2x640Gb WD Caviar Blacks in Raid 0 mode for storage of games and music. When I run the benchmark of my SSD alone I get great numbers and can tell that I am properly aligned, have the correct firmware version, and am in ahci mode. Why would I only get 5.9 Windows experience score for my data transfer rates? Is windows testing my Raid 0 array as well? The computer is crazy fast so im not terribly worried about it, but I would like to know whats up. Thanks in advance.

Don't listen to WEI. It is known to be inaccurate. If Crystal Disk Mark is reporting the correct speeds then you are good to go.

The highest score you can achieve with a traditional HDD is 5.9, so it is indeed giving you its score for the drive subsystem. I know it goes without saying that WEI is not a great factor in judging overall system performance and can sometimes leave you scratching your head, but as you've seen, you know the system is running as it should.

If you click "View and print detailed performance and system information" in the WEI window, it will bring up a new window that shows more info, such as the size of your primary disk that it tested. This will tell you which one it's testing (obviously the SSD will show up as ~60GB while if it thinks your RAID array is the primary drive it will show its size as ~1190GB). Like WT I suspect Windows is confused and thinks the RAID 0 array is the primary disk. Even if there was something seriously wrong with your SSD, it shouldn't score a 5.9, you'd probably get low 7.x. If AHCI is enabled I'm sure your SSD is performing as it should.

I get 5.9 for my 30GB OCZ Agility SSD.

Larry, what OS is reporting that ?? Vista tops out at 5.9, regardless of what you have. Win 7 updated the top score in each category to 7.9 IIRC. Also, is your SSD set up in AHCI mode ?? That particular SSD is quite dated but should seem to score higher, but again don't give WEI too much credit.

Just looked at detailed like frosted flakes suggested, windows is looking at my HDD and shows it at a 5.9. Is there any way to get it to see only the SSD? I tried to disable my Hdd in the device manager, but I have some system files on there I guess because things began to get wonky and WEI wouldnt run.

Your SSD is too small, and as you fill an SSD, it starts to loose its score. With a Corsair F120 I used to get 7.6-7.8 initially which dropped to 7.1-7.2 when about 50 gb was left. Also, it was later set in IDE as well, probably both contributed.

With my Corsair Force GT180 I keep around 100+ GB free and I get 7.9 :)
