All stats gathered from Free-DC. Thanks Bok :)

I added the previous three week's totals in parentheses after this week's total. I thought it might help those following BOINC Formula race decide where to help.

Thanks for the stats & the PM (replied back just now). :)

My production slipped a little due to an electrical outage and a video driver bug, but another rig is added, and another is in the works.

New rigs all for A@H? What spec are/will they be?
Your already doubling my output! lol, although I did stop A@H for a few days last week to crunch LHC.
Your disappearing off into the dust! ;)

Thank you.

I'll be shutting down for about a month for a move to a new house in Pennsylvania
from Long Island, a lot of room in the basement for computers :hmm:

Thanks for the stats! I guess I must have shut down my PrimeGrid, I think the long WUs got to me a bit.

Apparently, I crossed the 2 Mil mark in A@H the other day and hadn't noticed 'til now.

As for rigs, I added a 2.8 M640 i7 notebook that has a faulty mainboard, specifically in the charging unit(can't charge a battery), and it's out of warranty, so it sits on my desk doing A@H. :)

Hope to add another 3.2 i5 this week.

I'm going to try something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...140416130850:s - and if it works, I'll be able to throw some 1.8 notebooks out in the barn!

Congrats on hitting 2 mill :)

I remember 1st hearing about mains LAN years ago, good to see they've got such good speeds from it!
Won't take you long to close that 1/2 mill gap on me! ;)

Greg
Nice output from that lot :).

:) I guess I will have to take over the top spot on weekly production from Lane42 for a bit. Perhaps I can catch up a little after all these years of slacking.

LOL ... I've been watching you climb lately and wondering who the new guy is - yeah, with a "Join Date: Jan 2000" :)

I see you have a 4770K, is it overclocked? I got one a couple weeks ago and am having hard time OCing it, only 4.2 so far.

Yeah, I'm a real chatty guy, 3 posts in 14 years.

I'm not much of an overclocker so I have not even tried on the 4770k. Just acquired it last weekend. I may try once I get it on a liquid diet. It is actually the first socketed Intel CPU I have paid money for in almost 20 years.

Lol, 3 posts in 14 yrs has gotta be some kind of record!
Welcome back to the forum then :).

I've just been doing a little digging to see when you joined us, & I see your 1 of the old boys! ;) All I can tell is you joined before me, as your already in the weekly stats (although flatlined) the week I joined :-
SETI Production stats for top 100, 10/23/99 - 10/30/99
SETI Top 100 production stats 11/13 - 11/20 - you start crunching, again(?)
Top 100 production stats 11/20 - 11/27 - straight into the top 10! & their you stayed for a few months, briefly going into the top 5
[edit] Just re-discovered this post where I pasted a team list from 21/9/1999 PMed to me by Hellburner, looking at the saved PM you were active then
Good to see your a top gun again :).

When did you join us?

Oh for anyone interested, got those threads from my website
Although they maybe available from here now??

4770k's are born for overclocking ;). Let us know what you get out of it.

If I remember right I joined TA as soon as I started SETI, Aug 27, 1999.

I'm screwing around with the 4770K now. Running 4.3GHz solid all day so far.

I will say this though, those nVidia Maxwell chips are great for this sort of thing. The non TI version is 70% as fast as my GTX 770 and the EVGA SC versions come out of the box at between 1360 and 1380MHz core.

What vcore did you need for 4.3? And what are your temps?
And what mobo?

Sorry to be so full of questions but how much difference is there between the Maxwell Ti and non-Ti versions? I've read they don't use much electricity and are fairly inexpensive?

1.2v on the vcore, the cores are averaging around 58c depending on which if the 600 sensors you look at, Gigabyte GA-z87X-UD4H, 32GB G-Skill RAM @1600, 2x Hitachi 2TB, 2x Samsung 120GB SSD and one EVGA GTX 750 running 1.4GHz core and Memory. CPU is cooled currently by a Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO with 2 fans. I'm running the display off the IGP currently. The whole system is pulling about 225w from the wall through a Rosewill Capstone 450M power supply.

Ti VS non-TI there is not much of a difference. I have not analyzed it to thoroughly on the i7 but on the Phenom II X6 @2.7GHz there was not even close to the 25% difference given by the 5th SMM in the Ti. The non-Ti would average a MultiBeam unit in about 12 min when running one at a time and about 20 min when running 2 at a time, both with .5 CPU locked to them. I don't have solid numbers on the Ti at the moment, it's just from observation and looking through BoincTasks logs. With MB you will hit a limit on the non-Ti with memory because each unit takes ~250MB to run plus there is about 70MB of overhead on each card that is not actually running as a display and ~130MB when it is.

I'm going to do a more thorough benchmark one day soon as I have a queue full of AP and MB units to run through so I can run the same set of units in various configurations. That way I can compare apples to apples. Right now I have a bunch of cards to play with and will likely get a couple more next week. All nVidia as I don't do ATI. :) I still can't call them AMD Graphics Cards.

The bottom line though is that the GM107 GPU is a BARGAIN for this sort of thing.

Like I tell my son, never be afraid to ask questions. The worst thing that can normally happen is you don't get an answer.

Nice o/c so far :)

Lol that's less than my C2Q & HD 5850!, when their both crunching (~265w, Asteroids & MW@H), although is your figure for CPU & GPU crunching?

Btw AP & MB units? Multibeam & Astropulse?

How come you don't do ATI? (I do both incidentally).

Yep, both CPU and GPU.

I also just checked and at idle the system pulls right about 100w. Thises things hate using power. Heck, the Dual X5650's I have here only pull about 325 from the wall with all 12 cores loaded.

Yes, AP = AstrpPulse and MB = MultiBeam. For the last 3-4 days the SETI guys have been going crazy with AP. The key I have found for AP on a GPU is you have to dedicate a CPU core to EACH unit. Otherwise the GPU is idle 90% of the time. So sometimes there are no CPU only units being processed but the CPU's are still always loaded.

I don't do ATi because the *NIX drivers for nVidia have always been better. I don't give a crap that they are not open source. At least nVidia keeps them in sync, with a few exceptions like Optimus, with Windows. I say *NIX because it includes Solaris and Linux. I built the development lab at Sun Microsystems where they did the validation for nVidia on Solaris x86.

Another reason is that nVidia provided development resources, not just a few pieces of hardware, to the SETI developers to create the CUDA version of the MB app.

One thing AMD has going for them in the GPU space now that is extremely attractive is the heterogeneous APU's. I'm this close -><- to picking up an A10-7850K just to play with that. But for discrete GPU's they don't have anything I am interested in. I think they are going in the right direction for sure but it is not enough to pull me from nVidia just yet.

Part of it is probably nostalgia in thinking back to just how mind blowing it was the first time I managed to get Quake 2 running in OpenGL on a Riva TNT card back in, what, 1997 or so? It was like someone had turned on the lights and I was seeing the world for the first time!

I will start a new thread for performance tuning SETI once I get some initial benchmarking done. Perhaps I can even package it up and we can build an ad-hoc database of performance metrics using the same set of work units on various platforms.

I am a hardware nut I must confess. If I were to turn on everything I had here I could probably quadruple my output using CPU alone but I would be drawing 30-40KW of power not counting cooling :)
