Weekly DC Stats - 09JAN2022

Hello everyone,

welcome to the weekly stats. Speaking for myself, long before I took up the posting of the weekly stats, I made it a Sunday habit to put the previous and the current weekly stats side by side, and look how team mates stick with projects, or switch from one to another...

My own stats this week merely consist of old results being validated as the wingmen complete their part, as I let my computers have a quiet time for a change. Well, actually the week started with a scare on Monday morning, as power went down in the whole neighborhood, and came back shortly just to go down again several times. Later the power company stated that they had a cable fault and toggled power several times in order to localize the fault... Well, my refrigerator started up with some very worrying noises in one of the power cycles, but came back OK later, fortunately. Also, my main computer hung during POST, but it turned out that it merely couldn't cope with an attached USB HDD. It started alright without this HDD and I could hotplug the HDD without issue after startup; what a relief. I am glad that I hadn't anything else running at the time, and that blackouts are very rare occurrences here! I know that some of you have encountered much worse blackouts than that.

Yeah, it's just the "lone wolf" (aka RPi48G) on WCG, and one WU from directly after the race. I had shut down my rig for some "construction" work. I was getting annoyed by my desks, and had planned for quite some time to build something new. The plan was to finish the folding race, shut everything down, tear the "office" apart, build the new desk, and then get online again. Well, it didn't work out exactly like that, obviously

The main issue is that the height-adjustable feet went on backorder... And still are... The desk framework is completely assembled and jacked, so I can mount the feet once they arrive. But I can't put on the tabletops, rewire etc.pp. because then this whole construction will be too heavy to lift (in order to remove the support again and place it on the feet). The radiator, reservoir and pumps are already mounted, but are still emptied... So, no bunkering etc. going on, this week's stats will most likely also show me out-crunched

PS. Was that a Gigabyte mobo in that rig that wouldn't boot with the USB HDD attached? They had that error back in the C2D days, wasn't aware that was still an issue.

It was a Supermicro board, X10 generation, with AMI BIOS. There was some other USB gear attached (HDD, DVD...) which didn't need to be re-plugged. Probably a quirk with the power management of the one HDD.
