Weekly D&D 5E group?

Do you want to play?

  • Yes - I want to be a PC.

  • Yes - And I want to DM.

  • Yes - And I'm willing to DM if needed.

  • No - And I'm not sure why I bothered answering this poll.

Any interest?

Haven't played in a looong time (since 2E), but 5E looks promising - seems to get away from some of the crap of the previous versions.

UPDATE: Looks like a lot of interest - possibly could get a few groups going. But we need DMs! Anyone willing to give it a shot?

I still have my AD&D Dungeons Master's Guide and Monster Manual somewhere out in the garage. :D

I played the heck out of AD&D 2nd edition. Had the DM manual, Monster Manual, PC Handbook, and a boatload of other things.

I haven't played since 3rd edition came out. More of a coincidence than anything. I would mind getting into old school table top gaming again. But, it's hard nowadays. Long work weeks, baby at the home, no time, etc. . . Good reason to get back into it, ironically enough.

Same here. 2nd edition came out when I was in college. There were a ton of people into int back at that time. Kids today don't understand that there was no internet and people actually had to meet face to face to play games.

We played a few games with the beta rules...I'm not a big D&D guy, mostly grew up on board and video games, but it was still fun. I've probably played less than 10 D&D campaigns in my life.

Wish I had a local group still to play 5E. Child, job and everyone spreading out kills it quickly.

Glad to see there's some interest!

Is anyone willing to DM? I've never done it, and I think I'd be pretty bad at it, or I'd offer.

What days/times work best for people? I'm a night person myself.

Great times. I remember the summer after 9th grade in 1984, over at my friends house, on a warm June day. He has me roll up a party. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I knew I always liked fantasy. He pulled out module B2, Keep on the Borderlands. I think we played for 8 hours. It was all AD&D after that until the early 90s. So many great memories.

Started in '84 with Ogre, a chess-like game put out by the fledgling TSR. Started D&D in '86 with 2E which I've stayed with since. 3.0 and 3.5 were kind of D&D - Worlds of Warcraft edition. Never got into those. Our group has stayed with 2E mostly because every member still has their books.

We game about every two weeks with several members acting as DM's so that no one person gets burnt. A couple of us have shown interest in 5E, only time will tell if we move to it temporarily or permanently.

Looks like plenty of interest, but nobody's willing to DM? I added a poll to get the ball rolling.

DM'ing is a ton of prep work, requires impeccable social/management skills and is too much the focus of success or failure of the group. Maybe I hung with the wrong group 30 years ago?
