Ok my girlfriends birthday is on July 8th and I was thinking of going away for the weekend. Preferably something on the East coast, something relaxing and calm. Unfortunately I can not start the weekend early, I'm returning from a scheduled business trip at 4:00pm and only have until Sunday afternoon.. Besides beaches or Disney World in Florida, what else is fun this time of year? Thinking of an area with mountains and that is secluded. Want to stay in a cottage or a cabin.

acadia/bar harbor, maine.

if you like hiking, canoeing, biking, kayaking.

EDIT: the only problem is it's more ideal to have at least a week there.

Iron, I was thinking Smoky Mountains, but where? Any specific area you can think of?

What's not relaxing and calm about Vegas? you can lay by the pool all day long, you don't have to go gambling or drinking...

Since you are looking for quiet I reccommend heading to the North Carolina side of the Smokies. The Nantahala Outdoor Center, http://www.noc.com/ , is nicely situated but expensive. The area around Franklin, NC is nice. The Cherokee National Forest is very nice as is the Nantahalas. Wayah Bald is spectacular.

In previous post Webber should read Wesser.

The Manistee National Forest in Northwest Michigan is beautiful...but it could be hot. :)
