Week 4

Bama was 4th in the BCS. VA Tech was 3rd. Miami jumped Bama in the AP, but not in the Espn/USA Today poll.

Fresno State coming in at 20. Yes. Well until they play USC that is. wouldnt it be a miracle if they won? that would be too cool.

Woops, you're right.. Anyways, I think UCLA should have dropped farther than they did.

wow Penn State is ranked 3rd by the computers, and LSU is ranked 13th by them.

human voters are weird.

it also has UT at #1 by a LARGE margin i would say compared to what it should be for the human voters to be putting them num 1.

#22 in the BCS, #20 in all of the human polls, unranked by the computers.

No surprise where Michigan is...but by seasons end, we will possibly have beaten 2 top 10 BCS teams. that's just silly.

Why is that? Both are rated about the same with 2 losses each. Yet ND has beaten a quality team, and its two losses were very narrow losses (one a narrow loss to the #1 team in the nation). Colorado hasn't beat anyone yet, and its two losses were being blown away. The best team that Colorado beat has 5 wins and 4 losses. Woopty-doo.

I meant that they were not in the top 25 in the computer polls :p

ND is 7th in the people polls, and colorado is 21.5. yeah, that's rated about the same. ND goes up the polls far too quickly. they're not better than georgia, they're not better than VT, they're not better than oregon, they're not better than ohio state. and yet they're ranked above all those teams. golden domer fanboism is evident in the people polls, even moreso than nvidia fanboism is evident in the video forum.

Um, this is a BCS thread. ND is #11 and Colorado is #18. That is fairly close out of 119 teams!

Or look at it this way:
[*]ND is #7 in human polls, #18 in computer polls. Average = (7 + 18) / 2 = 12.5.
[*]CO is #21.5 in human polls, #11 in computer polls. Average = (21.5 + 11) / 2 = 16.25.
[*]12.5 vs 16.25 is still quite close out of 119 teams.

Now for the rest of your post:
[*]Georgia is #9, ND is #11 - yet you claim ND is ranked higher.
[*]VT is #6, ND is #11 - yet you claim ND is ranked higher.
[*]Oregon is #10, ND is #11 - yet you claim ND is ranked higher.
[*]Ohio St is #8, ND is #11 - yet you claim ND is ranked higher.

By the way, I hate ND and hope they lose every game.

it's going to suck when notre dame takes a bcs bowl away from a 1-loss team.

i think one of the main problems with analysts/media people is that they only discuss BCS controversy when talking about undefeated teams playing in the national title game. unfortunately, in most years the system works itself out and the #1 team plays the #2 team blah blah we've heard the same nonsense for years now. last year was the biggest hiccup in the system.

what people should start discussing now is the rest of the field. maybe the bcs was put in place to make sure #1 plays #2, but when discussing 1-loss teams there are going to be a lot of upset people. last year there was some discussion of the cal/texas rose bowl controversy, but that worked itself out when texas won in the rose bowl and cal lost in the holiday bowl. but this year things could play out in such a way that there are a LOT of 1-loss teams that have legitimate arguments in getting into a bcs bowl.

many analysts want to talk about a "plus 1" system, but not even that will fix it. there will always be teams left out, even with a playoff system, but the amount of teams that will get left out of BCS bowls this year is depressing.

i realize none of that made any sense, but it's ok.

What teams do you think would beat Texas or USC?

Not that I would bet on bama winning against either, but any team that is undefeated should have a chance, IMO. I didn't think LSU would beat Oklahoma a couple years ago either, but it happened...

I wouldn't be so sure...bama (or a lot of other teams) COULD beat USC or Texas in a playoff format i think...i mean when texas nor usc has to play a tough game week after week its pretty clear that a lot of their players get a bit of rest between their truely tough games. In a playoff week after week they'd have top play at 100% for 3 weeks straight...which i dont think neither team could do. USC and texas don't have the depth that other teams have i dont think...and that would be their undoing in the playoff format.
But as it stands were in BCS mode and yes...USC and Texas SHOULD play at the final (baring any unforseen losses). USC being the victor of course :p

And if there's only going to be one game to determine the championship, I agree it should be USC and Texas right now. But I want more games between good teams, and to give all the undefeated teams a chance at being #1!

As it was written in an article on ESPN... Alabama may be about to do what Auburn did last year. Go undefeated in the SEC and still not have a chance to be the national champ.

So I don't mean so say I don't agree with the BCS now, it's not perfect, but it's not bad. At least it has 3 undefeated teams on top, unlike some other polls that puts Miami ahead of Alabama.... But anyway, a playoff system would be much better and much more exciting.

'Bama will lose to LSU or Auburn, Miami will blow the ACC title game, and USC loses. Meanwhile, Penn State roars into the BCS title game and stifles Vince Young.
