Hehe I'm slowing creeping my gf2's clock up. Now at 370 and climbing. I don't see any difference in games so why am I doing it? :) Guess I'll just find the limit of my card then drop back down to spec again...

Yea, that's what I did, Jellybelly....pumped the card up to see what it could do, but given the fact the appearance looks the same, I run it just slightly above stock now...

...there's more to life than Quake and FPS =)

Terp, ain't that the truth? I downloaded the ST: Elite Force demo based on the Q3 engine. There I found finally found reason to OC the GF2. :) Settled on 1024x768x32 with all options on. Looked darn spiffy. Too bad the game is yet another mindless shooter.

Otherwise I guess I'm not running the right software. We need more titles that really push this graphics card.

Just out of interest's sake, have any of you run the DM-suburbandelux deathmatch map in Unreal Tournament?

At 800x600 it brings my Celeron 896, V3 180 MHz to its knees. I suspect it still wouldn't run great on a Geforce 2, due to limitations of the Unreal engine, but besides one person's experience I haven't heard much about it.

I agree...I was just telling my friend that I think there's a lack of "quality" games being brought to market with all the recent advances in hardware technology....Seems everyone is still trying to cash in on the ol' Doom/Castle Wolfenstein formats, or some variant thereof....I got addicted to Everquest, which is one of the best RPG's every made, IMHO....I think it spoiled me, as I am yet to find a game I can get so engulfed into that I pull all-nighter after all-nighter :)

I go into CompUSA on a weekly basis looking at all the boxes in hopes of a great game, but come out empty handed...

For a great antidote to mindless shooters, you should try Thief: Thief the Dark Project, Thief Gold (a minor extension of dark), and Thief II. Many styles of play and strategies are possible, but the one that works best and is most interesting is to sneak around in the shadows and avoid conflict. These games have great realism, AI, and immersive atmosphere. Many fans, myself included, have been playing nothing else since the series came out. Great replay potential. Check out the Eidos forums, available at http://www.Eidosinteractive.com.

I do not get paid for this pitch. As you may know, Looking Glass Studios is defunct, owing not to quality of their excellent prodcuts but bad financial dealings.

Deus Ex also gets a positive nod from Thieves at the forum, but evidently (as they say) it is not quite so reliant on stealth tactics. so the Thieves keep coming back.

Now, as for wanting games that tax the hardware, that is a self-defeating wish, in my opinion. The hardware is good enough. Let's have better quality games that use it to advantage, so the PC does not become more of a money pit than it already is.:)

I swore I would never buy another game from Eidos as long as I live :) ...given the fact my old Gansters CD-ROM doubles as a beer coaster....weak!

...Just tried Shogun: Total War...it's like a combination of Ages of Empires, Close Combat, and Risk...everything I was looking for in a game...come to find out, they remove the turn-based strategy portion out of the game in multiplayer...it was already a year late being released, so I think they cut corners to bring a half-finished game to market....

Well, to each his own. OK, Eidos has produced some stinkers. But they are NOT the developer, they are the publisher. I think you should look at games from the standpoint of how fun they are to play, not who the publisher is.

I am still stinging from Eidos's refusal to acquire the once financially-crippled-now-defunct Looking Glass because of their major debacle in funding the sad excuse for a company called Ion Storm. By looking at the way Eidos have been investing its money, I have a feeling Eidos won't be around for too long. Gotta let Ion Storm go Eidos..Romero will drag you down.

Yeah try tunning that thing in some heavy 3d games like Need For Speed Porsche, NHL 2000, or Motocross Madness 2.

Most likely you will get artifacts and lockups. Above 360 memory is asking for trouble.

"Above 360 memory is asking for trouble."

I'm running my mem @380 right now and it's perfectly stable. I'll try turning it up a little too, since I can run 3DMark with it @400 (with a little bit of artifacts, hehe :) )

I did get a little artifacting on 415 so I settled in at 410!
Plays deus ex and alliance very nicely.

Plus I aint marrying it. it's my hobby to buy em, mod em, use em, and sell em to someone else to get a new one!

Inosuke

P.S. Venturing to say that Deus Ex is the coolest game I have played in a very long time.
