Weeds question

Yeah, she's a hotty and they've been pimping her out for the past two months now on regular TV and print...

But is the show worth it (watching)?

The show is worth it even without the MILF factor.

Good week for Showtime, Diary of a Callgirl premieres and both Penn & Teller and Weeds start their new seasons. Wahoo!!

It started out fine, but it became painful to watch pretty quickly. Predictable humor and absurdly heavy-handed political propaganda.

i agree, she's hot as hell. The show is great, but yeah, the 3rd season was a bit lackluster. still worth the watch i think. season 1+2 is only $20 I think at best buy or circuit city this week, check the ads.

It's pretty meh. After all the hype, I started watching a few eppies in the last season, but it's not something I'd run to watch. The setting and story is a bit boring, and you don't really feel for any of the characters.

Why don't you watch some eppies from the first seasie?

Maybe. They don't rerun it on any local station, so I'd have to watch it online or rent/buy it. I don't like it enough to do either.

I like it a lot. Some of the characters (Kevin Nealon's for example) are great and the storylines are fun and interesting. I've watched the first 2 seasons and am about to start the 3rd. I would definitley recommend the first 2 seasons, I just hope the next seasons are just as good.

She's not that hot, I don't see how people keep finding her so attractive. To me she's always been a textbook butter-face.

Regardless, I have to keep my eyes from rolling out of their sockets the moment anyone even comes close to saying they watch/would watch a show just because a girl who stars in it is attractive. It's the same old ridiculous 'Friends' mantra for making shows: cast a bunch of pretty faces, throw in some stupid situational humor, have the pretty faces interact with each other and 'act' their way into making it seem funny. Not for me, I'll take 'Rosanne' over any show like that if the content and humor is there. I'm watching sitcoms like that primarily so I can laugh and get through want I'm doing while watching easier. Attractiveness of one/some of the show's stars is less then secondary to me.

Don't do it. The first season is just as bad. I tried to like that show, but the situations are unbelievable, a bit boring, and the characters don't act human.

Fixed it for you.

well, obviously looks are objective. It's really just a bonus. It was just a really interesting show I thought early on. I kept watching through the 3rd season mainly because I had already seen the first 2, it hadn't been bad enough to just drop completely.

Season 1 - in particular the first few episodes - were done very well - so well that I forced myself to watch every episode so far. Over the course of the show, however, both the storyline and characters have gradually decreased in quality. If you watch all the episodes in a row (like I did, over a week or so), you can actually see the characters completely change direction to fit into the new "wacky" scenario they have unfolding. By the middle of season 3, everyone has slept with everyone and everyone hates everyone and it's just a big mess.

There is also a heavy liberal bias with the show - which normally I wouldn't mind - but later on in the seasons it becomes obvious they are using more conservative cliches to get their jokes - which ultimately ends up falling flat. Republicans, the rich, and religious people are insane and bigots. The war in Iraq sucks. Bush sucks. I get it. Stick to the pot jokes, please.

I agree, and there have been shows for me that I really liked initially but have steadily declined as the seasons went on where bonuses like someone in it being attractive keeps me from jumping the ship. In that case it just acts as a lifeline for me not to abandon the show completely, but when I start watching the show to begin with to see if I like it that factor rarely comes into consideration.

Dead Like Me is another Showtime original series that I highly recommend.

Amazing show. I used to watch it religiously on TV. Too bad those tards cancelled it. Oh well, at least there's a DVD movie coming out next year to finish the story. It's no Serenity, but better than nothing.

I hated this show for wasting my time with the end of the first season and the couple of episodes I watched of the second season. Every single time, the oldest kid is a big fuckup with the stereotypical teenage angst and the brother-in-law does nothing but screw up repeatedly and the family still gets cut tons of breaks that come out of nowhere.

Kinda like "the office".

I liked weeds seasons 1 & 2. It's one of the few things I miss not having satellite tv anymore. She's not 'hot' but she's talented - goes much further. I initially watched weeds since I was impressed with her in "the west wing".
