Hey all,
Just having a MAJOR significant time in my life.... This weekend was my birthday, and all my newer friends (people I met after I moved away from home, some of whom are in my wedding) met my best friend from back home, who is officiating my wedding. That was just the coolest weekend ever.
-And kinda like a football team, I have an off-week this weekend, but then I have another big weekend ahead of me: Thursday Nov. 9th, my parents are arriving in Birmingham, and I'm driving there that night to see them for the first time since my sister's wedding (Aug. 5th). Then, of course, all the family and friends will arrive Friday for the rehearsal and dinner (Copeland's of New Orleans), and Saturday night, I will be getting married.
Sound fun? IT WILL BE, no doubt. --But there's still so much stuff undecided! What to get my groomsmen for gifts? This is a tough one, because 3 of them went to school with me in the same program (graphic design). --So these aren't really your "leatherman tool" kind of guys. Also, only one of them drinks, and then only occasionally, so flask is out. Tough one.... Also, there's the question of what to do the night before the wedding, after the rehearsal dinner..... My dad is my best man, and I want him involved in whatever we do (as he is also my best friend, and I want all my friends to hang out with him). As I said, only one person out of a group of me, my dad, my best buddy/minister, and 3 groomsmen drink, so big blowout crazy party is out of the question.....
I wish I knew some answers. I want to be a good host. I know, in some ways, it's MY weekend, and things are supposed to be done for me and such, but I feel responsible to show everyone a good time... Hmmmmm..... Tough one.
Also, there is the question of what to give Bobby (my friend/minister). Cash? Gift? Same gift as a groomsman? Stupid little stuff like this is all it takes right now to fry my brain....
CHEF0083, if you are reading this, DON'T READ ANY REPLIES. If people make good suggestions for gifts, I don't want you seeing them!
(Chef is one of the groomsmen, and my former roommate).
