Wedding gift (cash) amount?

Good friend and co-worker. Going to his wedding in Rhode Island, we both live in NYC. I have no idea how much to give. Some people told me $100, but that seems kind of cheap. Help!

How good of a friend?

I live in Iowa and got married in May. Only a few people gave $100 gifts. But that's Iowa.

I hang with him from time to time. We sit right next to each other all day. As good a friends as co-workers get I suppose. I was thinking like $200. Plus I am paying $300 for a hotel to go up there and maybe $150 for the train.

me too.

I think it also depends on how elaborate the wedding is. Cheap food = cheap gift. Very ritzy = $100 gift. Just my opinion.

Does the couple have a wedding registry? You should find out if they do. It makes gift selection so much easier for the guests and plus the couple is guaranteed to get what they want.

My rule is $50 per person, so if the wifey and I are going to a wedding, we'd spend $100.

Since he is a very good friend of yours, a physical gift (not money) would be more appropriate.

Try the wedding registry when you get there and if you cant find anything get them a gift certificate for a nice department store. $200 a nice gift for a friend and coworker. Cash is to impersonal at least with the g/c it looks like you were trying.
