I'm getting married on June 12th and I have to find a wedding band. I want something comfortable, durable, yet not too expensive. Has anyone had any good experience with certain rings?

1st off, congrats IanthePez

2nd, when you say "certain rings," do you mean brand or type of metal?

Titanium all the way. Get a comfort fit and you won't even know you are wearing it.

Lots of styles and very inexpensive.

You'll get used to it rather quickly. Go to a 'real' jewelry store and try a few on. They come in different thicknesses both in height and in width (as well as the usual diameter). The nicer bands have rounded edges and such (think bullnose () vs [] if you are lookin at the profile).

There's a lot to choose from even in the simple round styles. And for a few bucks more you can get something nice and comfortable, which is a good idea since you'll likely be wearing it an awful lot.

I ended up w/ 2 bands, one plain gold band that I got married in, and one that I liked but had to be special ordered and wasn't going to be available in time--and I still spend $20 or so extra to get the plain gold one that is a nice feel "comfort fit" as said above.

Also, check out the warranty and repair clause things. For a fair price we get lifetime cleanings and size adjustments as well as insurance on any stones (you might opt for). They'll remove all scratches and such from the ring if you ask (a standard cleaning is just basically a steam clean and leaves all the nicks and scratches you've accumulated, but, the nice cleaning they melt some more gold or something into the cracks so it comes out 'like new'.

I've done it a few times. If I had to pay for the extra clean it'd already cost more than the warranty would have. the gotcha is you have to bring the ring into the store to get cleaned and inspected every 6mo's or the insurance is void until it can be inspected again (if you have a stone in it). I guess they figure you'll buy something / be a repeat customer.

We bought from one of the nationwide chains so the ring can be cleaned/inspected pretty much anywhere anytime we want.

Congrats.

def go with the comfort fit, much easier to wear...also make sure you get it sized right, alot of places like to tell you are one size but in reality you are not and it makes it annoying to wear...

here is a good site....

http://www.24carat.co.uk/ringsizingadvice.html

personally I would say go with a precious metal, either gold, white gold, or if you can afford it platinum....that e-wedding band site is nice but kinda pricy for a net based shop, there are some good sellers on ebay also or try a local as they might give you a good deal....

Ti is ok but you might not be able to get it sized in the future and personally I think it is not as nice as gold...you could also go with just stainless steel which are generally under $50....good luck.

Excellent service and prices. Had the ring at my doorstep in two days. They even swapped out the ring I got for free when it didn't fit right. (My wife picked the wrong size because of the comfort fit).

how was it wrong because of comfort fit? thanks ....edit, I don't agree with their sizing advice, at least not if you have my type of finger...the link that I gave for sizing info I feel is far more accurate..

With a comfort fit you should go half a size smaller than you would normally. For whatever reason, my wife thought it was half a size bigger and ordered essentially a full size bigger than it should have been.

Taken from their site:

you should order comfort-fit styles 1/4 size larger than the size of your favorite sizer

non-comfort-fit styles 1/2 size larger than the size of your favorite sizer

If in doubt, choose the smaller size....

I agree with their suggestion of waiting until the end of the day, however I don't necessarily agree with them when they say:

if your finger bulges on either side of the sizer. If so, it's too small

as with my type of finger, unless it bulges it will fall off as I really don't have knuckles...or I am a

owner of a well-built finger, who will find that the fleshy part of their finger is larger than the knuckle joint. Perhaps I should be called "small-boned". In this case, obviously the ring will slide over the knuckle easily, but there is a slight danger that the ring could slip off. To avoid this, it is better if the ring fits slightly more tightly on the flesh than for people with "medium" fingers. It may be worth a short period of slight discomfort with a new ring to ensure a snug fit ever after, as the flesh under the ring will usually adjust slightly to the ring.

I think with E-weddingband their sizing info is too geared towards the generic and does not address the other prevalant differences

I dunno...just trying different rings on proved different. The comfort fit of the same size would always be more loose than a standard fit. So, to stop it from sliding around I had to go half a size smaller. And, since the edges were rounded, the smaller size was easier to get on and off.

Can't say I agree with what they say, but I now understand why my wife ordered what she did.

Well, I must admit that I do like the look of titanium, but I also want some gold in with it. I have a few nice ones, but they always seem to be like $250 which is a bit much. I'll probably stop by a few places in the next couple of days to try some on and see what I like. Thanks for the replies so far everyone.

just be aware with Ti...

Because of the unique properties of titanium it is not possible to re-size the solid titanium bands; therefore, please take great care when sizing your finger for a titanium wedding band.

I payed $75 at a Service Merchandise going out of business sale. :)

I still have it, I upgraded my wife's a few years ago to something she likes.

I can't believe people waste a fortune on rings, weddings, honeymoons. Save the money and you can have a better house for god's sake.

Then again, I'm not certain why people buy new cars either, so maybe I'm just cheap.

I use a standard gold band, fat. I like thelook of the Ti with a metal band on the inside, but only in the store and I don't think I'd like to wear it normally - it's a bit too "pretty".

If you can't resize Ti that could be an issue. Unlike most people I've lost weight since getting married and my wedding ring is fairly loose. I've considered having it resized because of that.

Got our bands here

Very nice, and light on the hand. this model is the one we chose.

I've never liked titanium as a jewelery piece... might be durable, but it's way too light for my taste.
