Wife and I are looking to upgrade our wedding bands to platinum, we saw a set of 3mm/5mm rings for a price we can afford but here's the question...

The 3mm is available in sizes from 4-6 1/2
The 5mm is available in sizes from 7-11

My wife is size 8 and I'm 12, I contacted the seller of the set and they said it was no problem to give us the larger sizes...But it would be an extra $75 to do so.

Is that right? Don't they just stretch the rings to the proper size? Is so, it costs that much to resize?

Thanks.

If you compare apples to apples (meaning the same band), they should not charge you for a larger size. I have bought 2 platinum rings for myself sizes 12 & 13. I was never charged extra.

It cost's money to make rings bigger because sometimes they actually have to add more metal to the ring.

After reading the great link BigSmooth provided, the extra $75 means 1 of 2 possible reasons.

Either:
1. They maintain the width and thickness at the higher size (which means it's got more platinum)
2. They just take whatever they already have and stretch it.

I've emailed them to ask, if it's #1 then I'm buying...If it's #2, then I'll find someone else.

 It says "Average adult women size 6 to 8" here although here it says the average is 6.

Perhaps you have tiny hands. ;)

'huge' hands? hehe, she'd put a HURTIN on ya if you said it THAT way to her!

Yes, I'm sure (since she was the one that told me the size). She's an Amazonian 5'10'. She missed her calling to play BBall.
