Wedding attire...

Hello...

What would be considered a formal wedding attire... especially for the summer? I'm trying to find the most comfortable, but yet proper wear for the hot weather.

Also, would a business suit be suitable img? I don't have any other suits, and I don't want to spend money on one especially if I'll only wear it once.

Thanks!

A business suit would be fine. That's pretty much what formal wedding attire is, unless you're one of the groomsmen.

i would say if you can, get a nice linen suit... will be cooler to wear and looks great. If you cannot do that, a nice business suit with a crisp white shirt and light colored solid tie. (either yellow or blue)

I'm in a similar boat this summer.... no way if f**n hell I'm wearing a suit jacket in August at an outdoor wedding.

If it's a wedding worth going to, nothing.

alriiiight....

Business suit's fine. Make sure it's a clean (new) shirt because you'll have the jacket off most of the time.

No silly ties, you'll be spending the whole time explaining the "cute" tie to some clueless elderly relative.

Have fun.

I think unless they say black tie, a suit is fine. But formal is throwing me, because a suit is not formal.

It's actually an Indian wedding. From what I know, Indians normally wear traditional attire. I was going to get one, but it was as expensive as a suit. I think I'll go with my business suit and a nice dress shirt.

Thanks for the tips!

Suit is not even necessary in summertime, just a shirt and tie with a nice pair of slacks and maybe a sportcoat will be fine if you want to dress up.

What the bride and groom want them to. In this case I guess it would be whatever is traditional for a formal Indian wedding. Other times it might be tuxes, or white tie and tails, or morning coats and cravat ties, or whatever. Dress is not the same for guests.

The wedding was beautiful! The food was excellent, as well. However, Indian Standard Time sucks. Hehehe. ;-) The wedding was supposed to start at 10AM. It started at 11:30AM. The reception was advertised at 6:00PM. It started at 7:30PM.

:Q Wedding was at 1130 and reception at 730?! Is the wedding cermony THAT long?! If not that means you gotta go to the cermony, go somwhere else to burn some time, and then come back for the reception?

Actually, the actual ceremony was from 11:30AM to 2:30PM. It was supposed to go longer, but my friend did a compressed version. We killed some time at a local mall during the gap.
