I have a bit of weird problem here, occasionally my web pages will stop loading completely. The status bar in the browser just says Connecting to blah.com..... and doesn't do anything past that. However, everything else still works, xbox live, aim, ping, all work fine. I cannot figure out what is going on, but a restart of my router fixes it everytime. I don't know if there is a traffic jam on port 80 or what, but does anyone know what could be causing this?

what model router? try a firmware upgrade for shits and giggles.

when you lose http connectivity, is it just on your computer or all the computer on your network?

Belkin Pre-N F5D8230-4 -- There is no newer firmware update than what is on it currently.

Also, when I experience the loss of HTTP it is all computers on the network.

I actually have a similar problem where occasionally any NEW application will not be able to access the intenet, however programs that are "always on" ala AIM, any file transfer, any game, etc continue to work just fine.

If i go to launch a new program such as a game or close and re-launch aim or any other program like it, they dont work. Only solution ive found is to restart the router...

I'm using some SMC router that was given to me by my cable provider (mediacom), but its also done it with a linksys router as well as a Belkin N router (not pre-n, the current ones they carry).

beats me :\

for the most part it seems to only happen when I have multiple websites open surfing them all at the same time

Check that you're using the right MTU or don't have ICMP blocked. The packets you're sending might be too large for your Internet connection.

Do this:
ping -f -l 1472 www.yahoo.com

If you get this message: "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.", work your way down from 1472 until you stop getting it. Your MTU is that number plus 28. Edit your network interface settings in the registry to reflect this.

Seems like it is a crappy router problem. OR your isp flucking with you. Seems like the port mapping(PAT, most people call is NAT) isnt working in the router. Might have to try another router.
