Websites & Making Money

I work for a art gallery that has a online store for selling fine art prints. Since the site has been in place the company has never made any money with it.

The owner of the company has a excellent background in business and sales, as it applies to the real world, but not the Internet. I think in time the only course of action is that we will need to hire somone who is a professional with eCommerce/Internet Marketing, but until that point comes before hiring someone what do you think a Fine art gallery site could do to drive business, drive interest, make a art site like this exciting, make people want to be a part of it, hang around it, and keep coming back and buying?

I've been around the internet myself 20 years, but personally I've never worked in Art, so trying to come up with a idea, some new niche to make a cool Art site that people are going to love, I just can't seem to come to any ideas.

Anything anyone can share about how we could turn the site into a buyer would be great.

Here is the site as it looks now, but in the next 2-3 months our webmaster will be redesigning, so what can we do for now and the future?

http://www.imagestationart.com/

Also we run a site called Canvas and Clay, this is also a new art channel on the cable digital channel 320.

http://www.canvasandclay.com/

Personally, I wonder if the Canvas and Clay should be combined to have the fine art print for sale on it, hmm

THANKS & ALOHA :)

P.S. ImageStationArt.com is only going to last 60-90 days longer with this site. We are going to build a new site/look, but until then I want to make the most of it.

And what is that suppose to mean? By my having 20 years experience on the Net doesn't mean I have all the answers, especially when it comes to a Art site. Ask me about making a computer site, now that I have answers for! ;)

Selling necessities is one thing, selling luxuries is another.

If you could find a way to make digital images easily transferred to canvas with strokes and all then you will have a profitable creation. But for now all we have are posters.

Thanks, but that's not the type of input I was looking for, I need to know if anyone knows anything that works good for ecommerce.

And as far as your reply, yes we already do, it's called a "Giclee" print.

At present I read websiteservices.com, and as a PC geek of 20 years I know quite a bit of what's out there, but emcommerce and marketing is something I have not personally worked in, even though I do know some things out there pertaining to this.

So I'm hoping some ecommerce pros might be around this forum to give a few tips, or some input, etc...

THANKS

NSFNet was opened to the public in 1985. It later merged into Usenet and Bitnet.

It's possible he could have used it for 20 years. He may mean he's been using computers for 20 years though.

About 4000 hits a month, I just came on board the company so I'll need to check into this further, but it's around this, plus with the new site Canvas and Clay and digital cable channel,
http://www.canvasandclay.com/ I'd expect this is going to drive that up quite a bit.

Now granted I'd figure selling art online isn't the easiest, but there is plenty on the site in the $16-$100 range, I'd figure this would be the biggest selling area online, but even still we can't seem to generate a steady stream off of this.

Here is the site URL again ----> http://www.imagestationart.com/

BTW something REALLY interesting our company developed the latest streaming technology ----> VX30 http://www.vx30.com/

We use this streaming technology to play all of our online videos, BUT there must be something here to use this is another way to promote business, because VX30 has really gained respect in the PC/Internet Community, it is ranked the #1 streaming technology at the moment.

THANKS

Stolen Code please that is SO ABSURD!

Why it's absurd, because VX30 has been around for many years, and we have numerous awards and recognition in the community for streaming technology WORLDWIDE!

You don't get awared and given the recognition for having stolen code, it doesn't happen like this, these things are looked into FIRST, so please let's get real here people, because this is utter nonsense.

If there was even a hint of this the company would not have the awards or reconition, these things have already been looked into and investigated, this is old news and a total lie, so please let's get facts straight if you need to learn anything and need code, and explainations then go to the company and talk but please don't be spreading false rumors around from some kiddies site that knows nothing.

ALOHA

Umm, if you have been in software/computers for that long you know that your statement is false.

Microsoft is the biggest example.

binister I know, and I'm talking about us not Microsoft, and MY POST has nothing to do with bringing up FLAMES over VX30, I have questions concerning other things in the post, so let's PLEASE drop it.

And you should know too if you're old enough you can't believe everything you see, read and hear, and these VX30 FLAMES are examples of just that.

SO PLEASE STICK TO THE POST PEOPLE. ANYMORE AND IT WILL BE REPORTED TO THE MODS!

THANKS
