Website Viewing Problem

I am having problems viewing our company website within the company itself when I check from Windows 95/98. It seems that the server times out before being able to display the site. When I ran into this problem with newer versions of Windows I was able to edit the host file and able to view the website. Unfortunately the same does not apply towards the older versions. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I would be able to view the company website? Thanks in advance.

probably has to do with the dns settings on your server.

What server OS are you running ?? Are you hosting the website in your office or is it somewhere else ??

If you have a server called domain.com and your website www.domain.com is located elsewhere, then you need to create a FORWARD LOOKUP ZONE in your DNS settings.

Actually I have this problem on two different computers. One of them is running 95 and another running 98. The website is our company website but the server is located in a different location.
To the best of my knowledge our server name is not the same as our website name. Thanks for your help.

I am not sure if 95 has a hosts file but I do know for sure that 98 does. I tried changing it within 98 and it didnt make a difference. I was wondering if there was another solution to this problem.

ok, is this an internal company website on ly or an external one?

What is the ip of the server that the wbepage runs on?
You might want to try connection by the servers ip address, and not the name. try that.
