Is there something out there than can get me some feedback on how fast my website comes up? If it's slow, is there anyway to tell if it's the server side or just the website?

Also, what's a good way to check the speed of my website provider?

thanks in adv!

Analysis that done trough the Web by other Websites provide little help since in many cases they are exposed to the same general trepidations that you are exposed to.

The general causes to Slow Web Site might be: Optimizing & Measuring the "Speed" of Internet Connection.

1. Web site can be slow because of your own connection.
Try to optimize you TCP/IP stack:

2. Web Site can because it possible that at time the Internet is Slow.

3. Web Site can be Slow because you Hosting Service is Slow.

4. Web Site can be slow because the pages are sloppy and include a lot of graphic embedded in them.

Number 1: Will cause slowness to all you surfing.

Number 2: This is part of life and there is nothing you can do about it.

Number 3: Most Hosting services provide sample list of some of their clients. Try to find out other sites that are on your Hosting service and see if they are slow as well. If your site supports ftp upload 10MB file to the ftp directory, and download it back to your computer, that will give you a sense of the ?Speed? without involving the Site regular pages.

Number 4: The most common problem in slow web Sites.

There is a lot of programs and instruction concerning how to optimize pages. Google for the term: optimize html
