Back when I co-webmastered a teen-oriented editorial site, we were ~40k unique/month with active forums and IRC. We sold ad space once, bastards never paid because they got exactly ZERO clicks (even though the agreement was that no clicks had to be generated)

I posted a link to a site I set up once on howardforums and I now get over 100 unique visits a day from all over the world... I also go through about 20GB of BW a month for it to...

Successful requests: 6,284,799 (366,783)
Average successful requests per day: 126,162 (52,397)
Successful requests for pages: 312,599 (16,927)
Average successful requests for pages per day: 6,275 (2,418)
Failed requests: 102,249 (94)
Redirected requests: 71,128 (1)
Distinct files requested: 4,604 (528)

I haven't come across any websites yet that fake clicks. If so, my conversion rate would probably reflect that and I would stop advertising there.

hrm.. perhaps I'm thinking about something else.

I get anywhere from 3000 to 7000 unique visitors per day, which isn't anything special, but for yet another personal vanity site on the net, it's okay. I'm sure that would go up if I did more interesting things.

Excellent bodybuilding info on your site, btw. 😉

Thanks! The humor pages get the most traffic--I've had a couple of pages that have gotten up into the 28,000 hits/day range from time to time--and the bodybuilding stuff is a strong second.

Basically you first need to offer something unique others don't and do this for a few months keeping track of all your customers and making sure they're happy, if any aren't, make sure they don't end up hating your company.

After that, you begin advertising on other sites and try to increase sales. One thing you might want to consider is a forum, this shouldn't even be tried till you have decent amounts of visitors. No forum is better than a dead forum, by far. Once you have a nice customer database, send an update later on to all your customers telling them what's new on your site, about the forum, etc.

If you get a forum going, you'll be fine, those can bring in lots of repeat visitors.

I just started it up so not much right now. Once I get all the content pages up and everything, it should start picking up.

I did a news story on LokiTorrent closing down, and I have a welcome message on the main page. That's really about it besides the forums that no one has signed up for yet heh

anyone have a rough idea of how many visits this site gets per day. should be quite a few since they've been around for 6 or 7 years

either one

Well, I don't have the hard numbers in front of me but I was say they (combined) would get somewhere in the range of a lot.

Get 1000+ hits a month on one site, and about 1000 on another. One has no income generation whatsoever, other runs on donations.

I went to your pics site, Tallbit. Holy shi*.

rofl nakanaka, i take it that you enjoyed it? 😀 Eventually I suppose I might do something with that site, but I kinda doubt it. I mostly just use it to host common files. I plan on actually putting together some real sites whenever I get home.

Edit - Thanks guys, you just inspired me to search for a new domain for a new project and amazingly it was available. Time to start working.
