The phone I got with my new Verizon contract is crap... I'd like something a lot simpler and more reliable, like the Nokia 5165 I used to have, so I'm thinking I'll try to find something on ebay. However, I'm in need of a page that will help me figure out what phones I can use with my service... I thought this would be easy to find, but google isn't helping me so far. Anyone gotta link?

You can't use Nokia. Basically, when you are looking up phone information, you can use either unlocked CDMA or Verizon-locked CDMA. What phones are you looking at? Post the phone here and we will let you know...

Verizon doesn't lock their phones, so any CDMA phone (except SprintPCS), which is CDMA 800/1900 and analog 800 MHz networks will work on Verizon Wireless network.

Well, I'd really like something close to the Nokia 5165... so maybe that one or 5170 or 5185.

well, basically CDMA is gonna be Sprint or Verizon...so if it isn't originally Verizon, its gonna have to be unlocked, cuz it can't be sprint.

Nokia sucks. "60" series phones are TDMA. "80" series phones are GSM. "10" series phones are european GSM. Don't know about 70....but Nokia sucks anyway.

I have a Motorola 120e.

Re: Nokia CDMA availability, if none of those models listed above are available, maybe someone could recommend something from another brand that is simple, has less than 6 buttons other than the number keys, and has a snappy interface (aside from the high amount of bloat/useless features of this Motorola, the lag on button presses kiiiiilllls me)?

edit: ok, so some people posted while i was looking for my model number. what does trimode mean?

I used a 120 for a while and it wasn't a bad phone. If you find the display laggy turn off animations. No reliability problems at all on mine, whats it doing? As far as fewer buttons, don't ask me there, I like more buttons so I can do stuff in fewer pressed :D

You might look at some of the kyoceras, they have some that look "simple" and I loved my kyocera smart phone in the past.

Oh ok. Call it off everyone! Nevermind :D

lol

Nokia CDMA phones suck. That's more accurate. I can't speak for their GSM phones. For Verizon I would just just get an LG or something. My friend has a Sharp phone w/ color screen and it seems pretty nice. Other then that I don't know what else Verizon offers. I assume they have some Samsung phones, they're pretty decent.

Hrm... I've never enabled that feature, so I thought I would see what it does and.... Holy mother of God!!!! That's the only thing that could make my phone experience more annoying at this point :D At least they were smart enough to allow you to disable it (and to have it off by default). If you don't see how this phone isn't responsive, you've never used a good phone, IMO.

As far as fewer buttons, don't ask me there, I like more buttons so I can do stuff in fewer pressed :D

I want to do the following things with my phone:

1. dial and call phone numbers
2. quickly scroll down to some saved phone numbers
3. set the phone on silent when i'm indoors
4. be able to lock the keys when it's in my pocket

This Motorola has 11 buttons, which is WAY too many for a telephone. I think it is doable with 3, but I'm willing to put up with the 5 that a phone like the Nokia 5165 has. :D

Go find yourself a Motorola V.8162 or whatever the Verizon version is. One of the best phones ever sold, period.

imo, nokia and their cdma phones suck. Verizon is one of the best cell phone companies in the US. I personaly use a Moto T720 from them and love it. Color screen, dLable games, tones, etc. If your going to go with Verizon try out their motorola line of phones, then samsung, then kryocera, but never use a nokia with a cdma provider. Nokia should stick with gsm.
