What programs do you find useful in the Creating process of the site? I need to make a site for our Building company and was wondering what are some good programs to use. Thanks!

A text editor, dreamweaver, photoshop, as many different browsers on as many different platforms as you can find, the W3 CSS and HTML validators, etc...

You really don't want to create a logo in Photoshop. If you are creating a logo, you want to make it a vector image in something like Freehand or Illustrator. You can then use the vector art for printing, website, etc.

front page > *

:p

edit: seriously, the aforementioned programs arent that hard. the best way to go about it though is using those programs, doing a lot of different things with the text, and colors, and images, and such, and then opening up the web page with Notepad or something and seeing how it all works. remove certain parts of code and see what it changes, add stuff, just mess around with it and see what does what and what serves what function.

Frontpage is really easy. If you can use Word, you can use FP. Especiall with the added functionality in the 2003 version.

not easy at all. Photoshop is freaking huge and difficult to learn. Dreamweaver is a little bit easier, but if you design the entire site in Dreamweaver, it wont look very good. If you need to build a professional website, you are going to have to take some courses or hire someone to build the page for you.

EDIT: Frontpage is Horrible Horrible Horrible. Anyone using frontpage for anything semi-plofessional should be ashamed.

Good advice. In the small amount of time I have spent messing around with HTML etc I have found that the best learning material is other peoples work. Use it, take it to pieces, see how it works, and learn all you can.
