Can't find a suitable forum for this question.

The Bridge club that I play at has a rather clunky website. Making a nice looking website that is suitable for a bridge club is quite hard. Has anyone had any experience with 99designs or any other "crowd sourced" organization for website design? Do you actually get a bunch of potential designs provided to you?

There's a review here.

Here's an example of a bridge club website that is functional but unattractive IMO.

Is 99designs also suitable for finding a developer?

Have you thought about a free site at Wordpress.com ?

With that you don't pay for hosting, don't need to worry about security, and mostly just need to add content like it was a word processor document.

People also use Google Docs and a GMail account for things like sign-up sheets, you can link to the docs on your WordPress site. You might (or might not) need to make the docs read-only to keep spammers from editing in unsafe content.

Thanks but I'm not looking for a free website. I'm looking for information on 99designs and crowd-sourcing and how to make a nice looking website suitable for a bridge club. I've looked at a million website templates and haven't found anything suitable.

Choosing between a home-built bootstrap site and a hosted Worpress site with customization will affect the design and the developer skills needed.

Free hosting with free security updates is just a bonus.

But no, I have no experience with 99designs.
