Website data entry

If I want to write a program or a script that will open a webpage and then fill in the information would I need to use key stroke emulation or is there an easier way?

It is for a legit purpose.

there are programs that already do this. Roboform is one example.

While I appreciate the response I don?t believe that is what I?m looking for. I want to be able to access a website from my program (no problem) then based of data I enter say on Monday the script enters the data for the rest of the week (it?s for time entry) I figure I can do it using keystroke emulation but wondered if anyone else had any better ideas.
