I have Win2k Sp4 running on a Dell 400sc 2.4 ghz. When I click a web link, IE 6 cannot seem to access the given site. The progress bar goes about 1/3 across and never gets any further and I never get to the site. It is not my ISP, router, or modem, since other computers in the house have no access problems using our WIFI set up. This problem is intermittent? sometimes sites pop right up and browsing is fast. Other times, sites refuse to load and only a reboot will clear the problem. Anybody ever hear of this kind of problem? Any help appreciated. TIA.

Have you tried removing all the temp files: cookies, etc. ? Try a windows upgrade, there is service pack for IE 6.0

Also did you ever change your internet security level? You might want to look at your internet properties for IE and see if there is anything disable or enabled compared to your friends.

Good Luck

I downloaded SpyBotSD. It found & removed some spyware which seemed to fix my problem. I also turned off cookies - I hate the damned things anyway! Thanks for your help, Newbiepcuser.
