OK, here's the problem. Where I work the IT dept uses the Websense software to prohibit access to certain sites, like pr0n and war3z, and I'm cool with that. But this week, due to the Anna virus, they seem to have come down with an acute case of paranoia and have blocked out almost all web based email services, and I've tried a lot. That wouldn't be so bad, but this is a call center, and we don't have direct inbound phones, so in the event of a family emergency or the like, a lot of us rely on webmail for outside contact. Short of attacking the IT dept en masse, is anyone familiar enough with Websense to offer any suggestions for getting out to our webmail?

PS, practical advice only, please, let's not turn this into a flame war over the merits of this type of software or lack thereof. Thanks

Have you tried originpoint? My work blocks a lot of freemail services as well, but I've been using originpoint for some time now with no problems.

Originpoint is blocked.
I've also tried yahoo! mail, hotmail, mail.com, mailandnews.com, alta vista mail, lycos, eudora, angelfire, zdnet, juno... probably some others I can't think of...

simple, register a domain and forward the email from your own domain to your incoming mail account.

Would it block yahoomail if you used its POP3 server with a mail client like Outlook? I'm not familiar with content blocking software.

Incoming: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
