Recently at work, they've tightening up their security for internet access. And their solution was to give me a seperate username/password login for internet access. So if I need to get on the internet I have to logoff my normal account, and login to this other one.

Is there anyway to login under my normal account, but use IE8 with my other accounts username/password?

Tools --> Internet Options --> Security --> Custom Levels... --> User Logon --> Prompt Username and Password

I've tried the above but it still doesn't prompt me.

You should talk with your Administrator at work before trying any kind of work around.

Ask him if you can run a VM that runs under your internet-enabled account.

You can change the username you run the application as. Right Click the app and select Properties. It's under there.

That may, or may not, accomplish what you want to do depending on any number of other factors which we know nothing about.

Best guess: talk to IT.

they may be using a transparent proxy with IWA authentication...its going automatically authenticate using your logged in account. there are ways to make it prompt, but as others have stated, talk to your IT dept.
