Webramp 700s and SBC PPPoe

Hi all,

I recently got a webramp700s and am trying to set it up with my SBC Pacific Bell PPPoe connection using NAT/PPPoe. But whatever I do, I still cannot get the router connected. Does anyone have any idea on this?? Or experience??

I bought the same router and I had to returned because of the same problem, it doesn't support PPPOE, and I don't know if there are a work around.

It does too support PPPOE.


PowerPower, what have you done so far to try to set it up?

Do you have the 5.11 Firmware?
Have you entered your SBC settings yet?

I tried both 5.11 and SonicWall's 5.17

I am not too sure what you meant SBC settings. But here is what I have:

NAT/PPPoE
username
password

everything else should be automatically obtain. I have also tried putting SBC's DNS in there but no help. Plugged everything back to my 3Com router, everything works fine again. What do you think??

under DHCP setup do you have your domain set to swbell.net
I also checked "set DNS using webramps network settings"
You should see your DNS entries here for pacbell


Also after it was configured I turned off the dsl modem and turned it back on so the webramp could obtain a new lease from it.
 
DHCP?? but i don't think I am on DHCP, does PPPoE uses DHCP settings instead of PPPoE?? Is that how you set yours up?

I will try that regardless, it's worth a try.

Does your computer have a static IP address or is it set for DHCP

If you turn on your Private messaging an PM your email address I could send you some screen captures, it would be easier for you to see my settings.

EDIT: from the bottom of the general/network page:

*To pass these DNS settings to computers on the LAN, you must enable the DHCP Server on the DHCP Setup page
 
I'm still waiting for SilentRunning to explain how the Webramp support PPPOE.
PowerPower, set your pcs to obtain a IP from the router, btw, can you login into the router to set up your DHPC, DNS and gateway?

Does it do PPOa or any of the standard RFC's?
SBC probably requires a full login username to like power@swbell.net , if you just put power it will not log in.

Yes, I could get in and set up DHCP,DNS, Gateway etc. As a matter of fact, mine is very similar to what SilentRunning (yes SilentRunning is nice enough to send me some screenshots of his). One thing though, dhcp is not quite working properly, I am trying to figure it out.

Yes, it supports PPPoE, at least that's what they claim and have NAT/PPPoE as an option. I've tried different usernames format: username, username@pacbell.net etc (off linksys faq since they have a lot of SBC resources there) but none works

What is there to explain, it is a setting under General/Network/Network Addressing Mode (NAT with PPPOE)
 
It has no problems with either of the firmware mentioned using SBC's PPPoE. Make sure the username is your main account's e-mail, user@sbcglobal.net or whatever.

Also, my problem for a while was that PPPoE was logged in fine, but the gateway for DHCP to the internal network was set incorrectly. Make sure under DHCP...General that the gateway is set properly. Mine was set as default to 192.168.1.1 when it should have been 192.168.1.251.

Just a couple suggestions...😉
 
Ok everybody, after spending days on this with SilentRunning. We've decided that the router actually is defective. And so I went to centrix-intl today for an exchange, everyone there is so nice that they offer me an instant exchange without waiting for a RMA. Anyways, I came home with the new 700s, plugged in and everything is working now!

Eltano1, you might had a defective router as well, may be that's why you had problem connecting.

If anybody still want a WebRamp 700s, centrix-intl still have tons in stock. I saw it today =)

I'm glad that you were able to exchange and make it to work, when I had mine it didn't work either and when I email Centrix one of their CSR told me that the Webramp it didn't support PPPOE and they gave me a full refund (minus shipping and handling of course).
