Webpage lag on Vista

I use Firefox. So anyway, webpages lag like crazy on Vista, whereas everything's nice and perfect on XP.

Specs are these:

P4 3.0GHz
2GB DDR RAM
Radeon X1950GT

Webpages with gradients set as backgrounds especially lag, such as found on GTAGaming.com and Gamespot.com

Is it my CPU? Is my CPU that bad that it has difficulty rendering gradients efficiently in Vista?

Do you use AVG 8.0 antivirus perhaps? There is a part of it called LinkScanner that is known to slow webpage loads, also you may want to try turning off the Phishing filter on IE7 if you are using that.

Random guess: Is the Radeon AGP? Do you have AGP Texture Acceleration on? I tested Vista on my old comp that had 9600Pro and setting that on turned browser scrolling from a slideshow to smooth.
