Webhost - Virtual or Dedicated?

Hi,
I'm going to be hosting a multimedia site which contains videos and mp3's, and I expect there to be a large amount of bandwidth used...I also plan to have some forums (but I don't expect to use very many resources...by that I mean, I don't expect too many users (over 20) on at a given time).

Should I go with a virtual or dedicated host? I know dedicated hosts are more expensive. I'll need about 500mb-1gb of storage space and I'm guessing up to 100gb/month of bandwidth.

Can anyone suggest a good host for me to use? I don't want to spend a fortune though
Thanks in advance!
Scott

Oh yeah, if RossMan doesn't reply on his own to this thread, make sure to talk to him about what hosts/pricing/reliability/etc before deciding. He's done a lot of research so he know's quite a bit. 🙂

Scott, yeah post your budget. Also, do you expect all this traffic right away or slowly? You could start out on a lower account and upgrade up as you wish.

Indeed....was I just extremely lucky that he caught my post (with the speed/sheer size of the number of posts going on around here) or does he fly around the forums like a bat out of hell? 🙂
