Weber Performer gas grill with small propane cartridge

I won this Weber Performer grill, that's basically a regular portable style round grill on a cart, yet somehow it sells for $300. It can also hold a little bit of charcoal for flavor. But I've yet to buy propane for it. The unhelpful/unfriendly person at Weber just says I need a small propane cartridge for a blow torch. How much are they? And can they be refilled or do I have to buy a new one every time? Which seems like it'd be very often, since surely that can't hold much can it?

So, before getting propane (and a cover) and using it, I'm trying to decide whether to try to sell it in the local paper or not. Before I won it, I'd been planning to buy a nice stainless grill.

I believe such tanks can be refilled. Go to your local camping supply store for further. Or, if you have a fireplace/grill supply store in your town (there used to be one in the town I lived in), they'd know.

Would U-Haul refill them? How many uses do you think each refill would be good for?

i just use a propane torch to do it...

i have the weber regular... if you use match light charcoal, it lights like instantly

I usually mix the regular charcoal with match light.. not the real charcoal stuff.. those dont last long..

The tiny "blowtorch"-style propane tanks are disposable. If you want to use the refillable "bulk" tank, you need to get one of these:

"Propane Tank Adapters - For connecting bulk propane tanks to appliances that use disposable propane cylinders"

Hey thanks. $21 for the adapter, but it'd definately save in the long run. Weber should provide the adapters with the grill! 🙂
I wonder why the grill doesn't just use the bulk tanks to begin with.

pretty sure the new performers use the disposable type... supposedly a small one shoudl last you an entire summer....

you just need it to start the coals...

most poeple use a charcoal chimney.... with the gold/silver models

let me know if youre going to sell it
