Based on what I read yesterday in a thread over at FW, I went to the SA in Orange, CT, today, looking to score a Weber Genesis Silver B Gas Grille (reg $449) for $252.

For whatever reason, I discovered that they have both "Genesis Silver B"s and "Genesis Gold B"s at the same clearance price of $299, less an additional 25%.

I walked out the door with a Genesis Gold B, the stainless steel beast, for $224.98 plus tax, roughly 59% off the original $549.99 price.

Um...if anyone is heading over there right now, please don't take the last Genesis Silver A, my sister wants it. :)

Wow. I didn't know this applied to the Gold series. I might have to make another call. I found the Silver B, but wasn't exactly sure I wanted the non-stainless one.

Thanks for the tip!

Awesome deal. Called the local Gart Sports (same parent company) and the Gold B is 449 - 25% and the Silver B is 349-25%. Wonder if you got in on a nice pricing mistake. I might head over to Gart sports in person and see what I can find.

Went over to Gart sports. Tag says 449 - 25% which should be 337, so I had them scan it . It came up to 299.97 + tax. Pretty good discount though I don't need a new grill bad enough to spend the money right now.

Figures: I bought the Gold B on Thursday last week at Sports Authority for $449.95, and here they go for 25% off that this week... oh well, needed it to cook for visiting relatives, so I got some use out of it. 8 steaks and some chicken breasts all at the same time... It gets hot real fast...
It was still a good price!

take your receipt back....be nice and they'll probably help you out.

Either cash refund or store credit.

Good Luck!

amheck and silverbullet, they are more than 25% off in most SA stores.

If you check the thread over on FW, you'll find many folks posting that they got either Genesis Silver Bs, or Genesis Gold Bs, for $299, less 25%, or roughly $224.

In fact, one guy who grabbed the last Genesis Gold B at the Gart's in Denver, surely the Weber Bargain King, claims to have paid $209.98 "because it was a floor model"!

So if you bought one in the last few weeks, I would definitely head over for price protection. And if you want to buy one but they aren't giving you the additional 25% off, just call around to a few SA stores, find one that is offering the discount, and have your local store pricematch!

BTW, I've seen a couple of FW posts claiming successful price matching at Home Despot. One poster says that the Weber grilles sold at HD include heavier-duty components as well, something I've not been able to verify myself. Anyway, there's more than one way to get this deal, so don't give up!

Conn Carl,

Thanks for the tips. You are correct that they are more than 25% off in most stores. Even in the store here it is 1/3 off, but the starting price is 449.00 whereas the silber B is 349 to start. The sign on the grills say they are all 25% off, but when I had an associate scan it it came up at 33% off. It just tells me that if I am interested in something around clearance time, have them scan it and see what the price comes up as.

I really don't need a new BBQ as mine does an awesome job. It is probably better I could not get that price as I don't need to be spending 250 on something I don't really need.

Buy one at the discount price. Return it using your old receipt at the original price.

I went back to Sports Authority today and they rung up the price in the system, which came out to $210.66 less than what I paid, so they credited my CC even though it is 2 days past the price adjust time limit of 6 days. Total I paid for my Genesis Gold B was $253.10 plus tax, or $270.81. Not bad!!!
