I just set one up to watch the main connecting hallway in my house well I am at work. I just throw it on an obscure domain that I registered a while ago. I am just using a cheap cam. Anyone else here use a cam to keep an eye on there house well they are away? What kind of setup do you use? Mine is in my sig if you want to check it out.

Not very well thought out huh :p

What happens if someone breaks in? Are you going to leave work and drive home? Call the cops? What happens if someone breaks in while you're not looking? :p

Police.

What if he's away from his desk or isn't looking when someone breaks in?

Same. Police. Plus, you might have video of the guy...

It snaps a pic every 30 secondsand uploads it. If I wanted to I could have to store the last days worth of pics and then over ride them on the next day.
Its not so much for security, more so just another thing for me to mess around with ;).

I guess you will see someone walking in front of it every once in a while, or a cat running around. Just messing around with it today, I probably will not leave it on when I am home.

I have some software that I am playing with that lets you setup zones, then snaps a pick when motion is detected.

Judging by your sig that would be a long drive.

It's quite fun. My father uses one at our grandmother's house, pointing towards the front door.

I used to use one to watch my cat:)

If it only snaps a pic every thirty seconds, and it takes 2 seconds tops to pass the main hallway, you have <7% chance of catching him in the act.

Nice security. :p

Used to do this but streaming for my dog. Webcam32 was the software. Was fun for a couple days - just enough to say I did it... no other purpose unless you do it for security. And if that's the case, x10.com (yes the former popup-giant) has good cams.
