Got a webcam for christmas - nice. Ok so I can video email and windows messenger.

But can I do this? - leave the pc and webcamera on and the access from another pc at another location? The idea being that I would be able to keep an eye on the
house from my inlaws pc.
 
Yeah, some webcams come with security software - whenever it detects movement it'll start filming or take pictures and email them to you. You could try netmeeting for streaming, but I'm sure there are better programs out there for that kind of stuff.
