I want a webcam to watch my bird feeders (especially the hummingbirds) in real time - this requires
- color
- high res
- preferably high FPS (though I have little idea of what is actually required)
- sound would be nice but is not essential
- still phot ability would be nice but not essential

I was hoping for wireless but that seems a bit out of reach right now. How far can wire run? Its a about 100' from my pooter to the feeders.

A forum search yielded Logitech QuickCam® Pro 4000 as a candidate but I'm hoping for something better. I don't mind spending $200 for something that really works well.

I don't know much about webcams, so any thoughts welcome.

that was my first thought too - but when I did a forum search there were no messages there and five over here. If the video gurus do hang out over there - they don't seem to talk about webcams.

thanks for the bump.

I haven't done much shopping around for webcams, but I can attest to the quality of (discontinued but can still be bought) the 3com HomeConnect web cam. It was a rebadged Vistacam web camera

Link They don't make it anymore since they sold the license and manufacturing rights to 3com and 3com discontinued the camera and a lot of other products too.

you can buy one at this place Link They also sell the lens pack. Image quality is top notch on this web cam.

This company called Inside Out Network makes the web cam now. LINK
