i have had a videoblaster webcam plus [by creative] for about 2 years. it functioned fine with my old pc [amd k6-2 550/128mb ram/win98se].
it also functions fine on my new machine [spec is signature] - i downlaoded an updated driver for xp.
however, i tried to use it on a laptop i just bought [spec = celeron 1200 on sis 630 chipset; onboard ram; original ram = 128 with 16mb reserved for graphics, upgraded to 386 mb with 32mb reserved fro grafix; os = XP home] - again i used the new driver creative recommend to use with xp [which worked fine on my XPpro pc].
i find that went i run the control panel the camera
seems to initialise ok but then after showing the 1st
image that it sees it crashes and freezes completely.
initially i thought it might be a memory issue so
upgraded that and also increased the graphics memory.
i checked for any device conflicts and there were none.
i also did as suggested in txt help file and turned my
graphics hardware acceleration right down but i still
get the same error. i have tried to do clean reinstalls
many times but no matter what i do i get the same error
whereby the image is frozen on the 1st thing the webcam
sees when it is intialised.
I have used other usb devices and they seem to run ok.

i really want to be able to use my webcam with the
laptop so any solution is greatly appreciated
