Web space for several people to access files

Where I work someone needs a place to share files online. Anyone should be able to upload, download, and update what is out there. It needs to have a simple web interface for this. Has anyone heard of a free or cheap service like this? Thanks!

Check out Microsoft's Windows SharePoint Services. It comes with Windows 2003 server, but you can also find many offer SharePoint hosting at a veryreasonable monthly price.

Great thought... all our win 2003 servers are behind our firewall, and we don't want to give vpn access out for sharing these files.

I actually use both SharePoint (Portal Server) and Groove at work. Groove has more features and is easier to use, but you need a client installed. So I guess it's really a matter of a web-based interface vs a rich-client. They both do integrate, but we haven't even looked that yet.

We went the Extranet route for our SharePoint servers rather than VPN, but that's because of the sheer size of our organization. It would be way to costly to given VPN tokens to everyone
