Web site video clip question

Put up a small page for the distant family to
watch some videos.
The clips play fine on some pc's
and seem to stop half way through
on others
all playing with Win Media Player
file is a .wmv file
I havn''t a clue why this is happening...

I'd be glad to try and convert it to mpg if ya want... I friggin HATE wmv

It may be dramatically larger in size though
 
I could convert the file,
the smaller size and compatability
is what I was after...

Should I be using a different file format?
whats best to use for video clips on the web?
obviously size is a factor even with broadband
