Web site/server question

I'm working on setting up my webserver on my Linux box. I've got a domain name, and am using zoneedit name servers. My website is up, and everything currently there works. Okay, say my domain name is www.whatever.com. To get to the "something" page, I would have www.whatever.com/something or www.whatever.com/something/something.html. How would I go about having http://something.whatever.com instead?

Oh yeah, I'm running Red Hat 9, with Apache version 2.

google for "apache virtual hosts", the docs are pretty good.
