Web site redesign questions...

I'm looking to redesign a web site. I was wondering if anyone had a good site that talks about what theories, ideas, and other things need to be taken into consideration for the layout of a site. I know what looks good, I just don't necessarily know how to design it.

Thanks!

just take a look at the sites 2advanced have designed. Go to their site and look at the portfolio......Really nice stuff.

christ...that is insane

I think Flash suits their site well because they are in the business of entertaining and making a good impression of their company

If that site was made with HTML instead of flash it would've been impressive. Artistry and innovation in web design is coming from the implementation of CSS.. Flash, while having it's place, is a gimmick, not a content delivery system.

In my opinion a good website is easy to navigate, attractive, and functional.

agreed...2advanced crashed IE on me. i tried to view the console thingy they have up there...that fake one.

I really don't understand why people bash flash....I personally don't use it, and can understand when it's bulky and takes a long time to load....however some amazing and quick things are being done with it.

As far as content delivery, most ad's are going to flash and those 'p!ss me off' popups that cover the page until you close them.

how can you say flash is a gimmick? you can tie it to a backend and have a fully function content loaded site...
