I'm about to set up a web server running Apache, and I need some advice about what to kind of system to buy. The server will be set up to run server-side simulations, but isn't expected to generate an enormous amount of traffic (maybe 1000 visitors a day tops).
Money is, unfortunately, tight, so I need to get the most bang for my buck.
Right now I'm thinking of getting the following
2.8 GHz P4 Prescott
1024MB Dual channel PC3200 RAM
200GB ATA133 HD
Asus P4P800 SE Motherboard
My first question is whether or not this seems like enough horsepower. If so, are there any recommended upgrades, or downgrades. I'm badly out of the loop these days, so I have no clue what the advantages are of these new components.
* Also, I'd like to run a dual processor but I don't think I have the money. Assuming I did have the money, what would be the best dual setup to run?
Thanks!
Carl
