I am thinking of setting up a dedicated server for a counter-strike game server and a web/ftp server. I was wondering what I should use for the hardware. It would have a few hits (about 10 a day) on the web side, I don't know how many game hits it would get a day (20 Clients max on the server). I am hoping to use an old Compaq Presario with a pentium 4 and a memory upgrade and a new RAID card. I am thinking about rackmounting because I hope to get several more within the next few years. I have a 9 Mbps internet conection that can't be upgraded. (my isp goes faster, but it becomes business class after 9 Mbps) I was also wondering if I could run more by adding a RAID system

Lag free Source Server

Don't know about RAID, you can always try it for yourself and see how it goes.

Don't worry about web server even Pentium 1 will run it fine with this few hits.

And 9 mbps DOWNload or UPload?

You need approximately 1024 kbps UPlink for 20 players.

Test your upload speed at testmy.net

If you are going to have large files on your web server, it will slow down game server.

9 mbps down and about 1mbps up

)The Large files would be about 1 a day. They are files for the 3d cad software they use that are too large for the e-mail, that they need to sent to customers. I also noticed on newegg that you could get convertable cases (like this one).
