Web Safe colors?

Is it still necessairy to stick to websafe colors?

Some book-smart designers will say yes, and In some cases I would have to agree.

My computer at show graphics the way they should coming out of photoshop, however on my old work computer it shows the graphic with warped colors, lost pixels, and almost a tie-die effect like the colors were melting.

Yes, just to cover your ass for the people who have crappy displays that aren't capable of displaying millions of colors. Same thing with designing for 800x600 resolution. It sucks, but you gotta design for the masses. 🙁

You need to dither it a bit.

PS7 do this automatically for u if you use the save as web option. Half the time the pics look as good as the original.

Not reallly necesary, but I personally make an effort to use them.

no, it's not. Windows will automatically dither full color images to 256 colors if that's how it's set. I mean, how many people are going to look at your page in 256 colors? Do you really care if the background color is dithered for all three of them?

No. If people are stupid enough to use 256 colors or whatever, they don't need to be using your page. No need to limit yourself.
