What do you need when you look at web hosts, what options make you select one host over another. How much do you need?

Web space?
Bandwidth?
Scripting support?
 
Are you hosting a personal website with pics of your prom, or are you running a fully downloadable porn video site?
 
depends on what you need. In your case I'm willing to bet you shouldn't look to spend more than $10 a month on hosting fees excluding domain registration.
 
Those are not particularly helpful answers.... I have a firend who is planning on starting a web hosting company, he wanted me to ask around so that he can make his plans...
