Site5
Anyone have an experience with this place?
6.46/month for 750GB storage and 7,500 GB bandwidth seems out of control...
Well, they don't have a very logical business model. They are banking on people not actually using all that. Could totally backfire with just 1 of 100 users actually using it all, which could jeopordize your quality of service.
Think, a 750GB ide/sata drive is $150. $150 / 12 months is $12.5. So if they want to get in the black on their investment of 750GB of space, they need to recoup $12.50 per month over a year to make their money back (not even profit). So at $6.50 per month, not including the cost of bandwidth, they need to offer that service for 2 years before they get their money back. Now consider the costs of QUALITY bandwidth. Where I work, we charge up to $100 per 100GB of data transfer. Granted our network is one of the best on the planet and that's our niche, but to offer the space and 7500GB's of datatransfer for $7 is like offering ever person at a major league baseball game endless cups of beer for 10 cents each. To make the analogy tighter, you would assume that everybody MUST pay 10 cents for the right, but most people may only have a drink or two. Well, WTF are they doing offering beer for 10 cents a cup. And why the hell is it all you can drink? Wouldn't you wonder if you should even drink the beer if its that cheap? The only thing I could think of is that they are hoping that 60,000 people pay 10 cents and they get a flat $6grand for the beer.. But when people are willing to pay $5 a glass, why offer bottomless cups when you would make $10k instead of $6k if only 2,000 of the 60,000 people bought a cup.
Basically, they will probably go under or piss you off with terrible service.
